You’ve seen the before-and-after photos of disappearing polar ice, but Nature photographer James Balog shows the dynamic melting that occurs in between the before and the after–with time-lapse photographs of retreating glaciers. The most dramatic images, including proof of glacial retreat in winter, appear at the end of the video, after some discussion. Balog set up cameras at 25 locations to document retreating glaciers, but he’ll tell you about that in this recently released TED presentation:
